WriteRoom getting better

WriteRoom word processor

Version 2.0 of the retro word processor WriteRoom is out today (tip o’ the cap to MacMinute.com) with some nifty new features. I’ve been messing around with the initial release because it helps me to concentrate on writing and avoid getting sucked in to answering email or making new iTunes playlists or anything else.

Essentially, WriteRoom presents you with a full-screen, black background and no distracting menu bars or other cutesy features. Anything you type appears in the old-fashioned green glow font, like an original IBM PC, although you van shift the color scheme around if you so desire. Saving happens in the background, so no need to worry about that, either.

The update adds several useful features, including a live word count which is indispensible for those of us who write for a living and need to hit a specific length to fill our publications’ holes.
