Web 2.0 guru and venture capitalist Fred Wilson posted today about the blog comment service his firm has funded. It’s called Disqus (Get it? Sounds like discuss!). It allows commenters to maintain a single “identity” that can be followed around when they respond to posts on disparate participating blogs. It also lets you know about responses to comments you’ve made via email — very convenient. I used it when posting comments on other sites but didn’t realize it was a simple and free service to add to my own blog until I saw Fred’s write-up today. So I’ve just added it here and we’ll see how it goes.
Installation was a breeze — simply add the Disqus plug-in to the WordPress plug-in directory and activate it. The page with all my comments from around the web is here. Then the page for this blog and its comments is here.
