After eight months of waiting and delays, Verizon Wireless has finally announced a new wireless broadband card that can fit in the bizarro world Expresscard/34 slot of the nearly-new Macbook Pro. The Novatel V640 will cost $180 with a “new” two-year agreement and $230 with a “new” one year agreement but no word in the press release on what the many who already subscribe but need a new card for their Macbook Pro will pay. In any event, I still think based on Apple’s product transitions of the past that you’re better off waiting for the 2nd generation of Intel-based laptops. The Macbook Pro is a warmed over G4 laptop. Next iteration will probably be a lot more interesting.
