Once upon a time, I kept stacks of computer magazines on hand just in case I was suddenly in the market for some gadget reviewed months earlier. Now a days, of course, the Internet has completely subsumed that role and it’s usually not the web sites of big magazines that even run the best reviews.
Today’s case in point comes from Voice over Internet Protocol expert Ted Wallingford, who wrote a comparison of four offerings for the Mac that appeared in the July issue of Macworld magazine. Given what I know about the production schedule of monthly magazines, I’d guess he actually performed his comparisons some months before that. Several of the major players have since overhauled their offerings and added video features so Wallingford is back with an all new comparison on the Download Squad blog. Bet he didn’t write it six weeks ago.
p.s. Here at Gravitationalpull.net, we’re partial to the multiplatform Gizmo Project software and a Sipura-made box that connects to our ordinary phones. See the “tools I use” pages for my current favorite hardware and software.
